Brentford put on a dominant display in their final game of the year beating Actonians Reserves 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts found themselves a goal down inside the opening 15 minutes but showed incredible character to fire six goals past Actonians. Ashley Cheatley extended her goal tally with another hat-trick, whilst Caroline Englehard, Samantha Read, Habeebat Gbajabiamila and a debut goal from Alissa Down's ensured the three points.
The Bees got off to a great start and nearly got themselves ahead inside the opening five minutes.
Nikki Woods did well to get on the end of a through ball and took it round the oncoming Actonians keeper but her shot on goal was blocked off the line.
Despite the early Brentford pressure, it was Actonians who took a shock lead when Rosie Hay lobbed Evie Witek with a brilliant strike.
The hosts wasted no time to get themselves on level terms when Engelhard’s powerful shot from long distance slipped through Isabelle Grundy’s hands and into the back of the net.
Paula Holguin who played in place of Chloe Logie did a great job to find Cheatley inside the box on 25 minutes, but the striker’s effort went inches wide.
Maddie Phillips was having lots of joy down the right flank for Brentford and nearly put her side ahead just after the half hour mark.
The right-back ran powerfully through the Actonians defence but her attempt on goal from an angle was saved well by Grundy.
Brentford did eventually get themselves ahead on 36 minutes through Cheatley, the striker made room for a shot and found the near post with a neat finish.
The Bees came out fast in the second half and extended their lead just five miniutes after the break.
It was Cheatley again who got the goal, this time Holguin took the ball around the keeper, but it was Cheatley who tapped home into an empty net.
Brentford continued to pressure the Actonians backline and eventually got a deserved fourth goal on 68 minuteds.
Substitute Read made an impact from the bench and was in space to put away a Nikki Woods corner.
New signing Alissa Down replaced Mollie Holmes on 70 minutes and played a hand in Brentford’s fifth goal and Cheatley’s hat-trick.
The midfielder got on the end of a Woods corner and helped the ball towards goal with Cheatley turning her shot in.
Down scored a stunner on her Bees debut to extend the lead to 6-1, the midfielder picked up the ball and found the top corner from 25 yards with a great strike.
Habeebat Gjabiamila made it seven with a neat finish from a tight angle to cap off a perfect day for the home side.
