FC Barcelona are set to kick off against Leganes soon at the Montjuic Stadium. This particular La Liga outing comes at a great time for La Blaugrana, and it is one they definitely need to win. With only goal difference now keeping Barcelona at the top of the league table, they need all the extra breathing room they can get.
Both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are right on their tail, so Hansi Flickās team needs to respond accordingly. For that reason, ahead of a big game against Atletico Madrid right after this, the German coach has still decided to trust a reliable starting eleven for this game.
As revealed by the official starting eleven, the team that Flick has selected will be a strong one in this game with a single major change.
In goal, Inaki Pena retains his place and continues to defend the Barcelona goal with honor. His performances have been dependable and he has been a player that Hansi Flick has been able to count on even with Marc-Andre Ter Stegen being out injured.
Right in front of him, Eric Garcia and Inigo Martinez start as the two centre-backs for Barcelona. Their objective will be to limit Leganes as much as possible while simultaneously advancing play out from the back. While Ronald Araujo is available as well on the bench, he will likely make an appearance later as a substitute.
On their flanks, Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde will occupy the left and right flanks respectively. They will be tasked with nullifying Leganes from the wide channels as much as possible while simultaneously helping out the team in attack as well.
Up ahead, the two defensive midfielders who will be starting are Marc Casado and Pedri. The two Spaniards will be looking to help out the team with their defensive contributions while also looking to control the tempo of the game and making sure their forwards are well-fed with passes and service.
Ahead of those two, the three players who will be starting right behind the centre-forward are Lamine Yamal out on the right, Raphinha on the left, and Dani Olmo in the middle. They will be looking to be a headache for Leganes to deal with both directly and with their creativity.
