The one trend that Leicester must stop if they want to avoid relegation

Leicester City were dealt a blow in their Premier League survival hopes as they were thrashed 4-0 by Newcastle United.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side lost 4-0 as the Dutchman’s unbeaten run as the new Foxes boss came to an end.

Defeat leaves Leicester 16th in the table, two points clear of the bottom three and to make matters worse, Mads Hermansen was brought off after injuring his groin in the first half.

It was a disappointing day on the road for Leicester and as their downfall began because of a problem that has occurred all season long.

Leicester City have conceded the second highest number of first half goals this season

One of the most important parts of any game is to start strongly.

As well as being solid defensively, teams want to cause a scene on the counter-attack.

Unfortunately for Leicester, keeping sides out appears to be a problem as the Foxes have conceded the second highest number of first half goals (17) this season.

The only side with a worse record is strugglers Wolves, who have conceded 18 first half goals.

It’s an area that must become a priority for the Foxes and one that if they do improve, could see them climb up the table quickly.

Leicester must look for defensive additions in January transfer window

The January transfer window is around the corner and some additions will need to come into Leicester to bolster the squad.

Attacking players will likely be off the market, opening up the possibility for new defensive options.

The centre-backs have been a cause of concern for the Foxes but, due to budget restrictions, Leicester may look at budget centre-back options.

Hiroki Sekine is a full back who has been linked with Leicester too and could come to the King Power Stadium this season.

Former Fox Ben Chilwell has been told he can leave Chelsea in January and may even be a valuable loan option if Van Nistelrooy chooses to send Odsonne Edouard back to Crystal Palace in January.
