Aston Villa and Wolves have both been in Premier League action this weekend
Aston Villa and Wolves both have the chance to bolster their ranks in the upcoming January transfer window. They also have the opportunity to let some players leave should they wish to.
Unai Emery’s side are eyeing European football again, whilst Gary O’Neil’s men just want to stay up. Here is a look at some of the latest news regarding the duo…
Aston Villa fired warning
Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling along with fellow top flight outfit Manchester United recently, as per 90min. The youngster has caught the eye with the Saints so far in this campaign, despite their tough start, chipping in with one goal in 21 appearances in all competitions.
Amid talk he is rated at around £21million, their boss Russell Martin has said: I'm not sure you'll get his left foot for that. We have offered him a contract, a really good contract for someone his age. At the minute, I don't think his agent agrees, so that's where we're at.
"I think Tyler wants it done, I think Tyler's parents want it done, so we'll see how long that takes. There is an option. We can extend. I don't think we want to do that - we want to reward Tyler for his performances.
"I've spoken to Tyler's mum and dad about it, I've spoken to Tyler, but then I'm not involved in any of the negotiations - that's down to Phil [Parsons, chief executive] and the gang, the owners and Tyler's agent - and that's where it gets tricky."
Dibling’s current deal at Southampton expires in the summer of 2027 meaning he still has a few years left to run down. However, as Martin alluded to, they are keen to improve his terms in an attempt to fend off incoming interest.
The 18-year-old, who is an England youth international, has a very bright future ahead of him in the game and the Saints will face a battle to keep him. Prior to joining them, he had spells in the academies at Exeter City and Chelsea.
Wolves eye defender
Getafe defender Omar Alderete has emerged as a possible transfer ‘option’ for Wolves this winter. That’s according to a report by TBR Football, who claim the Midlands outfit have been ‘alerted’ to his potential availability next month along with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.
Alderete made the switch to La Liga in 2022 and has since played 95 matches, 12 of which have come this term. He is a Paraguay international with 25 caps to his name.

The centre-back started his career with spells at Cerro Porteño, Gimnasia y Esgrima and Huracán as a youngster. He then moved over to Europe and has since played for the likes of FC Basel, Hertha Berlin and Valencia.
Wolves could see him as someone to bolster their defensive ranks. They could do with tightening things up at the back as they aim to survive and avoid dropping into the Championship.
