Jobe Bellingham's 'amazing' Sunderland claim should give fans hope amid Real Madrid transfer…

Sunderland pulled off a phenomenal comeback to beat Swansea City over the weekend, and Jobe Bellingham had nothing but the highest praise for the Black Cats fans who travelled to South Wales to see the game.

It was an incredible game for the neutral, with Sunderland battling back from 2-0 down to claim all three points at the Liberty Stadium.

The game was perhaps a little more stressful for Sunderland fans, of course, but they were delighted to see the team fight back thanks to goals from Dan Ballard, Dan Neil, and the winner courtesy of Jobe Bellingham.

Grabbing the win in such spectacular fashion was a sign of how far Sunderland have come and how resilient the team is becoming, but it was a particularly special moment for Bellingham.

Jobe Bellingham feels ‘amazing’ connection to Sunderland fans

We already saw Bellingham offer up a passionate celebration to the Sunderland fans in the away end at Swansea, but he’s now gone into more detail about how much he loves the supporters.

Speaking to the Sunderland Echo after the incredible win against Swansea, Bellingham waxed lyrical about the away support, and heralded the brilliant connection he feels to the Sunderland fans.

He said: “Unbelievable, unbelievable moment. I love the fans, they’re amazing. The support we get is second to none. I think they’re the best in the country. I’m so glad that they’ve come this far and they’ve seen a victory.

“There’s some big away days coming up as well… Blackburn, where they’ve sold it out against 7,000, they’re insane, really. The connection between all of us is massive, but for me personally, I just feel the fondness between the fans, and I love it. Long may it continue.”

Walking away from Sunderland would be very hard for Jobe Bellingham

Bellingham has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund lately, with a January approach expected from the European giants.

Brentford have also been mooted as a potential suitor for Bellingham, among other Premier League clubs, but surely, the player’s latest comments about how much he adores the Sunderland fans is enough to put those rumours to bed, for now at least.

It’s hard to imagine Bellingham wanting to tread the same path as his brother by joining Dortmund or Madrid anyway, and considering the mutual appreciation at Sunderland between the influential midfielder and the fans, perhaps Wearside is the only place he wants to be.

Of course, one day, Bellingham will end up at the very top, at least if he continues to develop at his current trajectory. But for now, just maybe, Sunderland fans can sleep easy and look forward to the 19-year-old sticking around for the long haul.
