Chelsea 2 Brentford 1: Cucurella and Jackson fire Blues into Premier League title race as they close gap on Liverpool

CHELSEA moved two points off leaders Liverpool as Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson sunk Brentford.

Cucurella headed his first Pem goal since May 2022 just before the interval, with Jackson smashing a late match-clincher.

Fabio Carvalho had stabbed a six-yarder off the bar for Brentford just before Jackson took the pressure off for the second placed Blues.

Bryan Mbuemo then punished Moises Caicedo for losing possession by firing a stoppage-time consolation for the Bees.

Chelsea then saw Cucurella sent off AFTER the final whistle - for a crazy second bookable offence.

But Jackson focused on the huge positives as he said: "Very big win. Not an easy game. They're a difficult side to play against.

"It was difficult because they always play set-pieces. But we won. I'm very happy.

"Listen to the manager, respect the plan and we did that. It was more difficult at the end because they wanted to score again.

"We're getting to know each other better. Last year is finished, now we're concentrating on this year.

"I missed that one but I was thinking I'll get another one and try to score to help the team win. I did exactly that.
