Gary O’Neil exited Molineux today. It is always sad to see a manager who seems a nice guy carry the can for his team’s shortcomings. Wolverhampton Wanderers seemed to be selling the family silver every season: The list of players they’ve parted with is enormous – including of course Max Kilman now at West Ham – and it is clear that some of the ‘budget’ replacements aren’t competitive.
In contrast to Gonzo’s earlier article, (Wolves To Pinch Potter) I’m not sure that any of West Ham’s shortlisted trio of head coaches are likely to be tempted to leap into the Wolves job: The club is in more of a mess than West Ham!
As I wrote a few days ago (Molineux Rejected:Talented Trio..), it would seem that none of the three candidates under discussion by the board are interested in the Wolves job.

Graham Potter, Massimiliano Allegri and Sergio Conceicao have all expressed a preference for the impending vacancy at London Stadium should Julen Lopetegui leave, and are not interested in applying for the vacancy at Wolves.
Recent speculation links Ole Gunnar Solskjær with the Wolves job which suits West Ham just fine, as he was never in the list under consideration for the West Ham role. So like the board, we sit, patiently hoping for Lopetegui to triumph but- unlike the board – fully expecting him to fall well short in the next few games.
And in the meantime, the talented trio who could relaunch West Ham’s season just sit and wait.
