All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as they pick up the pieces from their frustrating Everton draw.
Arsenal missed a huge chance to make up ground on leaders Liverpool on Saturday, drawing at home to Everton after failing to break through a stubborn Toffees defence. Mikel Arteta’s men could have made up two points on Liverpool, who drew at home to Fulham, and it will go down as a huge opportunity missed.
Attention now turns to a double-header with Crystal Palace, with the Gunners taking on their London neighbours in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and then the Premier League on Saturday. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.
Arteta on the need for a ‘spark’
Arsenal boss Arteta admits it is difficult to find the ‘spark’ his side currently need, struggling to win close-fought games. “That’s difficult,” he said. “At the end you need the spark and you need to be precise. I mean, we had the chances, this could have been two or three nil, and nobody's talking about it.
“The reality is 0-0, and they're not going to talk about all the incredible things that the team did in the game. I mean, certainly, it's not energy. When I see my team track-back, it's unbelievable. Every three days, 70 metres, all the team is going there. So very difficult to ask them something else because they want it.”
Pedro chase
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Brighton forward Joao Pedro. The 23-year-old is said to be attracting attention from top clubs, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all credited with an interest by CaughtOffside.
A deal worth between £45million and £55million is being tipped, though Brighton reportedly want £60million to sell. The forward has scored four and assisted three in just nine league appearances so far this season, and it looks as though he will develop into a player capable of playing at the top. It’s no secret the Gunners will likely pursue a striker in the near future.
