Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has emerged as a shock candidate for the Wolves job.
Gary O'Neil was relieved of his duties on Sunday (December 15), after Wolves were beaten by Ipswich on Saturday. In a statement, Wolves chairman Jeff Shi said: "We're very grateful to Gary for all of his effort, dedication and hard work during his time at the club.
"And we wish him and his team the best of luck for the future." Solskjaer has now emerged as a shock favourite for the role, according to BetMGM. Sam Behar, BetMGM's UK Director, said: “The last-gasp defeat to Ipswich was the final straw at Molineux and ultimately has cost Gary O’Neil his job.

Solskjaer hinted at a return to management over the summer, admitting he'd be opening to an Old Trafford phone call: "If the family [United] asks, I would say yes every day of the week," Solskjaer said during a Q&A at the Oslo Business Forum.
"It feels wrong to talk about jobs that other people have now, but I would say yes, of course."

He added: "I am a proud Norwegian, and of course if the question arises, when Stale [Norway's manager] decides to give up, I will happily engage in discussions. I am a proud Norwegian and proud of where I come from."
