Fans on social media have lauded Robert Sanchez following Chelsea's Premier League win over Brentford on Sunday, December 15. Sanchez was brilliant in goal for the Blues and made three crucial saves during the game.
At the brink of halftime (43’), Marc Cucurella opened the scoring for the home side following a decent pass from Noni Madueke. In the 80th minute, the Blues doubled their lead through Nicolas Jackson who was set up by Enzo Fernandez.
In the 90th minute, Kevin Schade set up Bryan Mbeumo who scored an outstanding goal. However, Mbeumo's goal was only a consolation as the game ended 2-1 in favor of the Blues.
In 90 minutes on the pitch, Sanchez had a passing accuracy of 54% (19/35). He had a goal-prevention rate of 0.73 and registered two saves from inside the penalty box.
In the game's aftermath, fans took to X to commend the goalkeeper for his outstanding display, with one tweeting:
"Sanchez must receive his flowers too. Kept us in the game when the tables turned. Kudos man✌️.”
"Sanchez lowkey saved us if we didn’t score the second goal it would’ve been long,” another added.
"Big Bob Sanchez brilliant today,” a fan opined.
"Sir Robert Sanchez you were good,” another fan confessed.
"Credit to Sanchez too what a performance hes put in with those 2 massive saves and decent on the ball as well 👏🏻,” another chimed in.
"Thanks for saving us tonight Sanchez, now gtfo my club👍.” wrote another.
Sanchez has conceded 18 goals and kept three clean sheets in 15 Premier League games this season.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has claimed that his team are not yet ready to be considered title contenders this season. This comes after the Blues secured their 10th win of the campaign against Brentford on Sunday.
When asked post-match if Chelsea were in the title race, Maresca said (via Fabrizio Romano on X):
"For me, we are NOT ready, You can talk about the title and the fans can dream about the title… absolutely. If you ask me, I will tell you what I think. We’re not ready but we are happy the fans can dream."
Under the Italian's reign this season, Chelsea have made significant progress on the pitch. The Blues are presently ranked second in the Premier League standings, having registered 34 points from 16 games. They are two points behind leaders Liverpool who have a game in hand.
