The January transfer window is just around the corner, and it could present Liverpool the perfect opportunity to strengthen its push for silverware.
Although Arne Slot’s men dropped points against Fulham on Saturday, they showed yet more encouraging signs after being reduced to 10 men. With Arsenal and Manchester City failing to capitalize, the Reds still find themselves in a strong position at the top of the Premier League.
Chelsea though is still posing a threat, especially after cutting the gap to two points. If Slot wants to claim the title in his first season at Anfield, he may need some backing from the club’s owners.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, including potential replacements for Andy Robertson, as well as news of Real Madrid eyeing up a double raid.
Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool)
Real Madrid is interested in signing Dominik Szoboszlai, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. The 24-year-old is said to have caught the eye at the Bernabeu with his performances under Slot this season.
The Spanish giant is of course already hotly linked with a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold, but unlike the right-back, Szoboszlai won’t go for free. It’s suggested he could set Real back as much as $105m (£83m/€100m), given he is under contract until 2028 after signing for the Reds last year.

Liverpool.com says: Hands off Real. It’s bad enough that you might be getting Alexander-Arnold for free.
In any case, we can’t see this one happening. Szoboszlai has done well this season, but it would probably be a big leap for Madrid to suddenly decide they want him in their midfield - especially since he’d probably want to play in Jude Bellingham’s position. We can’t see Liverpool letting him go that easily either.
Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth) & Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolves)
Antonee Robinson certainly impressed at Anfield on Saturday, and there will be more than a few Liverpool fans looking at him as a potential heir to Andy Robertson.
The Daily Mail though has suggested there are two names that would be more viable options for the Reds, with Robinson's age - he's currently 27 and will be 28 at the start of next season - working against him.
Instead, Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez and Wolves' Rayan Ait-Nouri are touted as possibilities, with Slot said to already be a big admirer of the former.
Liverpool.com says: Robinson was brilliant at the weekend, but signing a 28-year-old doesn't really give the air of a long-term plan. Kerkez has been impressive for Bournemouth this season, and at 21, he'd be perfect as the long-term heir to Robertson.
