All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Premier League.
Meanwhile, at the bottom, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town picked up big wins to stir things up. As preparation for next weekend begins for most clubs, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Premier League.
Lineker on red card
Gary Lineker has complained about the decision that saw Andy Robertson sent off during Fulham and Liverpool’s 1-1 draw. “They didn’t seem to complain too much about it after the game, but I found it an extraordinary decision,” he said on Match of the Day. “There’s no denial of a goalscoring opportunity because [Wilson] has the opportunity, which is a red herring.”
“There is zero chance that Harry Wilson is going to get on the end of that. You’ve seen how hard he [Jimenez] hits it, he’s never going to get across there.” While Robertson didn’t deny a goalscoring opportunity, he did kick at Wilson with no opportunity nor intention of playing the ball, which is a red card offense.
Bakayoko race
Liverpool are said to be interested in a move for PSV winger Johan Bakayoko. According to CaughtOffside, the Reds have entered the race for the in-form winger, with Newcastle United also said to be interested.
Bakayoko has scored nine and assisted 12 in 29 league starts so far this season, and at just 21 years of age, he is attracting serious attention. PSV reportedly want a touch under £50million to agree to a sale.
Arteta on subbing Odegaard
Arteta said: “If Ethan (Nwaneri) comes in and scores a goal, is he a great sub? If he doesn’t, you have taken your captain out. That‘s football.” Asked about Odegaard’s reaction, he added: “It was the same reaction as Martinelli, anybody. I’m sure that they want to continue to play the 90 minutes. But that’s why we have the subs. To try to help the team.”
