Pundit Tim Sherwood has spoken on the performance of Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson after his performance in their 2-1 win over Brentford. The Senegal international was on the scoresheet for the Blues to take his tally for the season to nine goals in the league.
One of 19 players who did not travel to Kazakhstan in midweek for the game against Astana, Jackson was named in the starting XI for the Blues at Stamford Bridge. The 23-year-old striker displayed all sides of his game in the narrow win over Brentford, which helped his side move to within two points of leaders Liverpool.
Formerly of Villarreal, Nicolas Jackson joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for a few reported to be slightly more than £30 million. The striker was called out by Tim Sherwood during his section with the Premier League Productions after the Brentford game. The former manager sometimes referred to him as a charity player, and a professional at other times.

“Since I’ve seen Nicolas Jackson, he’s so unpredictable. At times he looks like someone who’s playing soccer aid who’s not a footballer, but all of a sudden he turns it on. He’s such a threat, because he tries to get in behind. He doesn’t mind if he misses chances because he knows there’s more to come.”
Nicolas Jackson missed a gilt-edged chance only minutes earlier as he skied a low cut-back from Jadon Sancho from just six yards out. He also lost his footing and fell after he was played in behind in the box, missing another opportunity.
The striker, however, took his goal excellently in the 80th minute. Receiving the ball in space, he drove at Ethan Pinnock before unleashing a powerful effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Jackson has now scored nine goals in the Premier League this season for Enzo Maresca's side, putting him behind only Cole Palmer for league goals for Chelsea. The striker continues to be one of the deadliest in England's top flight as he scored his 23rd non-penalty goal since the start of the 2023-24 season.
