FC Barcelona dropped even more points in La Liga last night as they fell to a defeat to Leganes at home. After conceding a goal in the first five minutes of the game, the Catalans were unable to even tie the scores, despite making efforts for the entire length of the match.
With this loss, Barcelona are tied with Atletico Madrid on the La Liga table with 38 points, and are only 1 point ahead of Real Madrid, with both of these teams having a game in hand. Thus, if the two Madrid teams win their games in hand, they can topple the Blaugranes from their first position, which they have enjoyed since the start of the season.
However, this defeat and the position on the La Liga table were not the only concerns for the Catalans last night. Another aspect that will have Barcelona fans and management worried is the condition of Lamine Yamal, who had to leave the pitch around a quarter of an hour before the full-time whistle, despite his team chasing the game from a goal down.
The young winger was reportedly suffering from an ankle discomfort and according to SPORT, detailed tests will be undertaken today to assess his condition. For now, it is hoped that Yamal will not miss a lot of games with this issue.
However, the coaching staff is still getting quite pessimistic about Lamine’s ankle with this latest blow, and they feel the player is once again suffering from the injury that he suffered in the game against Red Star Belgrade, with which he had to miss three games in 22 days.
