A major update on Wolves’ manager search has been provided by one of world football’s biggest journalist.
Wolves are closing on the appointment of Vitor Pereira, according to various sources.
Well respected football journalist Fabrizio Romano says a deal to take the Portuguese football manager to Molineux is ‘almost done’. He is currently the manager of Al-Shabab and a compensation package is being agreed.
Posted on Twitter on Monday morning, Romano said: “Wolves are closing in on the appointment of Vitor Pereira as new head coach, deal almost done.
“Details being fixed on exit clause from Al Shabab as @David_Ornstein reported. It’s all set to be signed.”

It was reported by The Athletic’s David Ornstein on Sunday that Wolves were working on a deal to appoint Pereira. Wolves are willing to pay the release clause in the 56-year-old’s contract.
There should be no issue on Pereira’s end in regards to personal terms as he is keen on making the move to England, and is said to be excited by working with the squad. Gary O’Neil’s coaching staff were all expected to leave too, and so Pereira will be afforded the opportunity to work with his own staff.
GiveMeSport’s Football Correspondent, Ben Jacobs reported that Pereira's release clause at Al-Shabab is in the region of €1m, and so that roughly comes to about £830,000. Alex Crook, a journalist for talkSPORT believes the appointment could be made official by the middle of the week.
Should the deal go through, Pereira will be leaving Al-Shabab who find themselves in sixth place in the Saudi Pro League. They played to a 2-2 draw with Al Fateh last time out, and aren't in action until January 6.
Wolves have not waited around after parting ways with Gary O’Neil on Sunday morning. Pereira could find himself in charge of Wolves' next game which is against relegation rivals Leicester City next Sunday (December 22) at 2.00 pm.
