Report: Nottingham Forest want £31m Manchester United star who has already given Anthony Elanga …

Nottingham Forest are going to be looking for a few players during the January transfer window as the club looks to maintain its lofty league position.

Given that Forest will likely go into the New Year sitting comfortably in the top 10 of the Premier League, it’s not anticipated that many players will arrive.

Jamie Redknapp hailed the signing of Elliot Anderson at the weekend and anyone who does arrive needs to be of a similar ilk and with a similar profile.

Forest have made great strides with recruitment in recent months and it’s important that things don’t now slip back to the scattergun ways of old.

The Reds have been linked with a move for Ben Godfrey and now another defensive name has been doing the rounds with Forest mentioned as being in the mix.

Nottingham Forest want Manchester United star Victor Lindelof

As Ruben Amorim tries to sort through his squad, there will naturally be some players who are moved on their way.

According to On the Minute, Forest are now one of the clubs keen to take a punt on Lindelof from Manchester United next month.

The Swedish defender signed for United in 2017 from Benfica in a deal worth £31 million.

Lindelof has made 267 appearances for United and came on for the final minute yesterday as the Red Devils stunned Manchester City 2-1.

During his time at Old Trafford, Lindelof has been part of the team as United have lifted both of the domestic cups.

Lindelof is out of contract next summer and with Amorim keen to bring his own players to the club, that will mean others have to depart the Theatre of Dreams in the near future.

What Lindelof said about Forest star Anthony Elanga in 2022

Lindelof and the Forest man have been teammates previously for United and also on the international stage with Sweden.

Elanga was praised by Theo Walcott on Saturday after scoring the winner during a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at the City Ground.

In 2022, the winger was offered some advice from Lindelof as he looked to try and become a regular at United.

He told The Mirror: “I’ve spoken to him and said: ‘Stay humble, keep working hard and keep doing your thing. ‘Keep your feet on the ground and work hard’.

“Because even if you’re young and you manage to come to this level, it’s a great thing, but staying at this level is also hard because you need to really keep working hard.

“He’s a great talent, still very, very young, but he’s got some really great qualities as a player. He’s very fast with great technique and he’s got an eye for goal. If he keeps working hard, stays humble and keeps his feet on the ground, I think he’s got a great future ahead of him.”

Elanga could soon be rubbing shoulders with Lindelof in the Premier League again but this time wearing the red of Forest.

The 22-year-old has developed considerably at Forest and he will hope to take confidence from his huge winning goal at the weekend.

Lindelof might be viewed as a short-term fix by Forest and at 30, he probably doesn’t fit in with the profile of what the Reds are trying to sign going forward.

Nonetheless, his experience might be useful if Forest are to chase down a place in Europe and Espirito Santo has something to think about with this one.
