'Talks are underway': When Wolves hope deal for Vitor Pereira could be agreed after sacking Gary O'Neil - Sky

After suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Ipswich Town, Wolves decided to sack Gary O’Neil, as they are languishing in 19th place in the Premier League and currently look dead set to be relegated.

In the 2024/2025 season, Wolves have won just two games, which emphasises how poor they have been throughout the campaign.

Wolves look set to appoint Vitor Pereira to replace Gary O’Neil, as it has been reported that an agreement has been struck in principle.

Pereira is currently managing Al Shabab, having only joined the club in February after replacing Igor Biscan.

The 56-year-old made the move from Brazilian giants Flamengo.

Wolves targeting Vitor Pereira appointment in 24-48 hours

It has been reported by Sky Sports News that Wolves are hoping to complete a deal for Vitor Pereira in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Sky Sports News’ coverage claimed: “Talks are underway around trying to bring to Molineux ahead of that huge game against Leicester next Sunday. Now, Vitor Pereira, we understand is very keen on a move to the Premier League and to Wolves.”

It has also been explained that agreeing a compensation package with Al Shabab is expected to be a simple task for Wolves.

“Wolves, on their side are keen on agreeing compensation with Al Shabab, which you don’t think would be a big issue because he only has a contract until the end of the season.”

“Al-Shabab, doing pretty well in the Saudi Pro League, sixth at the moment but I think they would be fine if Pereira has expressed an interested in joining Wolves. So it looks like that could be well underway, heading in a trajectory of positivity if you’re a Wolves fan.”

How Vitor Pereira has done at Al Shabab

Considering Vitor Pereira’s Al Shabab side are sitting in sixth place is impressive considering they finished eighth last season.

The Portuguese manager had taken over the Saudi Pro League just a few months before the 2023/2024 season came to an end.

Yet, under Pereira’s guidance, Al Shabab have conceded the joint-third least goals (11) in the division after 13 games alongside Al-Ahli and Al-Quadisiyah.

It seems like Wolves are about to make an asture hire, considering Vitor Pereira’s pedigree is unquestionable, having been a part of the coaching world since 2003.

Wolves supporters will be hoping that the veteran can galvanise their flailing side after Gary O’Neil’s spell has ended has left the team in tatters.
