A former Premier League star could be on the brink of signing for Serie A side Como, who are managed by ex-Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

Sunday saw Fabregas' side beat Roma 2-0, with injury-time goals from Alessandro Gabrielloni and Nico Paz seeing Como take all three points at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia. And sitting in the stands taking in the game was none other than Dele Alli, who is currently on the hunt for a new club.

The 28-year-old was sat in the stands at Como's ground, sitting next to his model girlfriend Cindy Kimberly as the action unfolded.

The former Spurs star has not played a professional game since the 2022/23 season when he turned out for Besiktas, but is hoping to a return to football in January after his contract with Everton expired this past summer.

Prior to the game, Gianluca Di Marzio reported the pair were considering Alli training with the Serie A side in an effort to build up his fitness levels after having not played for such a long time due to injury, writing: "The possibility of the Englishman starting to train with the team is being evaluated."

And that was then confirmed by Fabregas following the 2-0 win over Roma. The Spaniard said: "I got to know him [Alli] yesterday. I don’t want to talk much about this, but perhaps there’s a chance that he will start training with us after Christmas.

"Let’s see. It would be to help him get in shape and nothing more. For now, we must enjoy this night. We must talk about Como, Gabrielloni and the lads. This is the most important thing."

Alongside dealing with injuries, Alli explained bravely how he had spent time in rehab to battle a sleeping pill addiction as well as mental health issues.

Earlier this year, the England midfielder also revealed he still harbours international ambitions too, with Alli wanting to find away to make the World Cup in 2026.

Alli said on Sky Sports: "You know you can set reminders on your phone, I have a reminder at 11 o'clock every day that says, ‘World Cup 2026’. That's my aim for now. I think that people will be like, ‘he hasn't played in a year’ but I don't care, I know my level.

He added: "The only target I have is the World Cup right now. Obviously I'm injured and contracted to Everton and so my mind is just about taking it day by day and making sure my injury is healed and that I'm in the best possible condition after the summer."
