Player could be handed fresh start after Everton struggles – End of wilderness period in sight

Dele Alli has been without a club since his Everton contract expired at the end of June.

The midfielder was linked with a move to Genoa some weeks ago but a deal didn’t materialise.

A new opportunity seems to have arisen for the ex-Everton man, who last played a game in February 2023 during his loan stint at Turkish side Besiktas.

On Sunday, Dele watched Como’s 2-0 win over Roma from the stands. He was also spotted by the cameras at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

This led to Sky Italia, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, reporting that there’s been talks between Como and the midfielder.

They stated that the possibility of the 28-year-old training with the newly promoted Serie A side was being considered.

There is also said to be a possibility of Cesc Fabregas’ side signing Dele in January, depending on how the training goes.

After the game, Fabregas was directly asked about the former Everton man and revealed that the player could indeed train with Como.

The Spaniard said, as relayed by TMW: “I met him yesterday, I don’t want to talk about that today. There is a possibility that he could start training with us after Christmas, but only to help him get a bit fit.”

Whether he joins Como permanently or not remains to be seen, but it looks like an opportunity is opening up.
