Former FC Barcelona star Neymar communicated that he was unhappy at his last club Paris Saint-Germain during an interview with RMC Sport in France.
The Brazilian joined the Qatar-backed Ligue 1 giant in 2017, after it smashed the world transfer record by activating his $233 million (€222 million) release clause.
Neymar then embarked on a six-year journey in the French capital, which brought him countless domestic trophies though he failed to deliver either a maiden Champions League crown to the Parc des Princes or the Ballon d'Or for himself.
In the summer of 2023, PSG waved goodbye to two of its biggest stars in Lionel Messi and Neymar.
While the former fled across the Atlantic to Inter Miami, Neymar headed east to Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal in what BBC Sport reported as a $94.5 million (€90 million) transfer.
Though he rarely gave interviews to French media outlets, during his time in their country Neymar sat down with RMC Sport and shed light both on the move and his Ligue 1 jaunt.
"My experience at PSG was good and bad at the same time... Good, because football-wise I think I was in the best moment of my career. And bad, because I was injured for a long time and often," he reflected.
"So there was some sadness. I will not forget the great moments I lived here, especially the Champions League final. They were truly incredible moments. We could have won, but a final is decided by details... Playing in Ligue 1 was a very good experience, and the fans were very good to me. I wrote my story in Ligue 1 and it was good for my career. I am proud and happy to have been part of it. Now it's over and I have to focus on Saudi Arabia and my club, Al Hilal," Neymar added.
Neymar explained that he decided to leave PSG "and this offer came to join Al Hilal... I got the offer right after I left, because I just wasn't happy there, at PSG.
"The club and the coach no longer counted on me. They had already talked about it with me, so I had to make a decision, and I liked Al Hilal's offer. I got to know the club, the local culture and the league.
"I was very surprised by my welcome here and the friendliness of the fans. The league is developing, and so is our team, and my family and I are confident that we have made the right decision."
It wasn't all bad in France, however, with Neymar saying that there first year there "was magnificent".
"I was very well received by the French and the fans. The last two or three years weren't the same, it wasn't great the way they treated me, the same thing happened to Messi.
"As far as I'm concerned, it was unfair because I've always given everything on the pitch. I don't hold a grudge, but I was a little sad about the way the fans treated me, especially when they came to my home, when they wanted to invade my house, insult me or want to hit me.
"As far as I'm concerned, they crossed the line. Our relationship stopped being respectful, while I have always respected them... It was a really complicated situation. In the end, I was saddened by the way I was treated, but it's over now. I respect PSG and I will always support them to get the best results."
Neymar insists he doesn't "hold a grudge against the club" in general, and only "against some of its leaders and some of its supporters".
"But that is a thing of the past. This is the club where I spent the most time in my career, six years. I have lived great moments, but also some sad ones. And my relationship with the fans is one of the sad moments, unfortunately. But in sporting terms, it has been the best football I have played. So I'm happy and I have a clear conscience."
With a contract at Al-Hilal set to expire in mid-2025, Neymar has been linked with his former club Santos which recently returned to the Brazilian top flight known as the Serie A or Brasileirao.
