If Liverpool were planning a daring raid on Bayern Munich for Alphonso Davies as rumour suggests, the man himself has already given a clear message about his future. Whatever comes next is not in his thinking as he feels 'valued' at his current club.
Prior to the weekend the Canadian international became the latest name linked with a Liverpool switch in 2025 as that is when his contract at the Allianz Stadium is due to expire. Still 24 years of age with five Bundesliga titles and a lone Champions League amongst plenty of other accolades on his CV, Davies presents an interesting option.
The events of the days that followed have only served to stoke the fire around a left-back transfer at Anfield. With Kostas Tsimikas injured, Andy Robertson was sent off at 1-0 down against Fulham, leaving his teammates with 73 minutes to rescue a draw against Fulham.

The 30-year-old has been one of the finest ever to play the position for the Reds, but another error after conceding penalties against Southampton and Real Madrid, plus allowing Bukayo Saka to cut inside and score when the team met Arsenal, has prompted discussions now is as good a time as any for change.
If Davies could be that man, Liverpool would have to reportedly fend off interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United. Both would also seek to complete the free signing upon the season's end.
But as made clear in an interview in October, the player in question has a definitive response to late speculation.
"As of now, my full focus is to stay healthy and to play the game with the club I'm with right now," said Davies. "I'm not focused on what's going on in the future.
"I'm just focusing on staying healthy and helping my team win. My team make me feel valued. The whole Bayern community make me feel valued. I see that each and every day."
Anfield was named as his 'most plausible' destination of any Premier League team when the club were dragged into the conversation last week. As of January 1, as a foreign team they will be eligible to make an approach for Davies to agree his signing once his Bayern deal elapses.
Also in the conversation to become Arne Slot's next signing are Fulham's Antonee Robinson following his performance against the Reds on Saturday, and Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez - signed for the Cherries by sporting director Richard Hughes in 2023 and national teammate of Dominik Szoboszlai.
