A crucial festive period lies in wait for Liverpool as they look to build on the foundations they have put in place during the first half of the season.
Slot’s men also sit at the top of the table Champions League table after winning all six of their league phase fixtures and they can progress into the semi-final of the Carabao Cup with a quarter-final win against Southampton in midweek. First and foremost, Slot will focus on preparing his squad for a run of four games in all days and he will hope to receive some positive news on the injury front over the coming days. But what is the latest news from the Reds stars that have been on the sidelines in recent weeks?
Ibrahima Konate
Konate has been out of action for the last three weeks after suffering a knee injury and appears to be set to return to the action ahead of the festive fixtures. Speaking about the defender and Conor Bradley earlier this month, Slot said: “They will both be out for a few weeks. I have said many times before it's always difficult to judge how many exactly because you can think in the beginning it'll be like this, and then the end stage of an injury process can always differ a bit.” Expected return date: Sunday 22nd December.
Conor Bradley
The young defender has been gradually working his way back from a hamstring injury that has ruled him out of Liverpool’s last three Premier League fixtures and the Champions League win against Girona. There is hope Bradley could return this weekend - but it appears the midweek Carabao Cup clash with managerless Southampton will come too soon. Expected return date: Sunday 22nd December.
Konstantinos Tsimikas
The left-back has not featured in a Premier League matchday squad since he was an unused substitute in a 2-0 home win against Aston Villa in early November - but Tsimikas did feature in the Champions League win against Bayer Leverkusen and in Greece’s Nations League fixtures against England and Finland. An ankle has ruled him out of Liverpool’s last six fixtures in all competitions but there is some expectation he could return to contention this weekend. Expected return date: Sunday 22nd December.
Andrew Robertson
The Scotland defender will miss the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Southampton after he was shown a controversial red card in the weekend draw with Fulham. However, he will return to contention for Sunday’s visit to Tottenham Expected return date: Sunday 22nd December.
