**Marc Cucurella was shown a second yellow card after Chelsea's 2-1 win over Brentford for "adopting an aggressive attitude", the Premier League Match Centre have confirmed.**
[Cucurella scored the opening goal in Chelsea's triumph](https://www.90min.com/chelsea-2-1-brentford-player-ratings-15-12-24) but saw his celebrations cut short after the final whistle when he was shown a yellow card which, when added to the caution he picked up deep into stoppage time, saw him sent off.
Having feined a head injury to disrupt a Brentford attack shortly before the final whistle, Cucurella attracted the frustration of a number of players when the game came to an end and a clash with Kevin Schade ultimately saw both players booked.
"The referee issued a second yellow card to Cucurella for adopting an aggressive attitude," a league statement read. "Schade was also booked for the same offence."
[Chelsea](https://www.90min.com/teams/chelsea) boss Enzo Maresca admitted he was surprised to learn of Cucurella's caution and admitted his frustration towards losing the full-back to a needless suspension.
"I didn't see the second yellow card," Maresca said. "The referee said the second yellow card was for bad attitude. There are things we can do better."
Cucurella's theatrics also drew a response from Brentford manager Thomas Frank.
"I think Cucurella is a top player, he is doing well," Frank said. "But I don't like it when players go to the ground and holding their face. I will say to Cucurella because I respect him massively."
