Loan Watch | Marshall scores last-minute equaliser for Huddersfield

_Six of West Ham United’s loanees were involved in a busy weekend of action at home and abroad..._

In EFL League One, **Callum Marshall** scored his fifth goal of the season for Huddersfield Town in a 2-2 draw with Lincoln City. The 20-year-old replaced wing-back Josh Ruffels at half-time as the Terriers looked to go on the front foot and spark a comeback having conceded twice in the first half. Huddersfield were soon back in the game as Brodie Spencer headed in from a Josh Koroma cross. Piling on the pressure throughout the second half, Huddersfield finally got their equaliser in the 89th minute when Marshall controlled a deflected cross from Spencer before rifling home to complete the comeback and extend their unbeaten run in the league to ten games.

In the Championship, **George Earthy** made his fourth start of the season as Bristol City were held at home to QPR in a 1-1 draw. Playing in a central attacking midfield role for the first time since joining the Robins, a position which he made his own during his time playing for West Ham's development side, Earthy gave a good account of himself, creating a number of chances for his teammates in a game that Bristol City dominated. Substitute Scott Twine opened the scoring for the hosts with his first touch of the game, a perfectly placed free-kick just shy of the hour mark. Despite Bristol’s domination, QPR equalised five minutes later after goalkeeper Max O’Leary came almost to the halfway line to challenge Paul Smyth, only for the Rangers winger to poke it past him and finish confidently with a stunning long-range strike.

Staying in the Championship, Academy teammate **Freddie Potts** made his 14th consecutive Championship start, playing just over an hour as Portsmouth lost 4-0 to Derby County. The result keeps them one point from safety, albeit with a game in hand on the two teams above.

In League One, **Michael Forbes** made his first league start for Bristol Rovers. The 20-year-old centre-back played just under an hour in the Gas’ 2-0 defeat away to promotion chasers Birmingham City.

In La Liga, **Nayef Aguerd** and his Real Sociedad teammates recorded their fifth consecutive clean sheet in all competitions in a stalemate against Las Palmas, just three days after their 3-0 victory in the UEFA Europa League against Dynamo Kiev. Partnering with Igor Zubeldia at the heart of defence, Aguerd’s Sociedad have the best defensive record in the league with just eleven goals conceded in 17 games.

In the National League South, **Mason Terry** continued his fine form for Hornchurch in a 1-1 draw away to Eastbourne Borough, making a number of incredible saves in the second half to deny the home side all three points. Their recent run of five unbeaten games has seen them edge closer to the play-off places, now just five points shy of Worthing in seventh place. The shot stopper continues to impress during his non-league loan spell; only four sides in the division have conceded fewer goals.

Having played in midweek in Doncaster Rovers’ 1-0 EFL Trophy defeat to Port Vale, **Patrick Kelly** was rested for their League Two clash away to Wimbledon. Rovers suffered consecutive defeats at the weekend for the first time this season. Wimbledon’s 2-0 win saw them leapfrog Rovers in the battle for play-off places. **Levi Laing** was also on the bench for Cheltenham Town, as they ran out 2-0 winners over Morecambe.

In the Premier League, **James Ward-Prowse** featured on the bench as Nottingham Forest moved into the Champions League places following their 2-1 win over Aston Villa, courtesy of late goals from Nikola Milenković and Anthony Elanga. **Maxwel Cornet** on the other hand, did not feature in the Southampton matchday squad that got beat 5-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

Elsewhere, **Krisztián Hegyi** featured on the bench as Motherwell leapfrogged Dundee United into fourth place in the Scottish Premiership with a 4-3 win over the Terrors. Lastly, **Mohamadou Kanté** did not feature in Paris FC’s defeat to Lorient, who now go above them in the race for promotion to Ligue 1.
