Lamine Yamal fell victim to a horrible tackle in the first half of Barcelona’s clash against Leganes last night and is now ruled out of action for the team’s all-important game against Atletico Madrid.
The player, who was clearly in pain, asked to be substituted in the opening half itself but the management opted to let him continue before eventually taking him off deep into the second period.
As the end result, he is now ruled out of action for three to four weeks and Barcelona will hope he makes it back in time for the Spanish Super Cup.
Leganes defender speaks out on tackle
It was Leganes’ Yvan Neyou who lashed out in an unnecessary challenge on Yamal in the game last night and handed him the blow to his ankle that now sees him out of action.

Speaking to El Chiringuito via Mundo Deportivo earlier today, Neyou addressed the accusations of injuring Yamal and justified himself saying he was just doing his job.
“I talked to Lamine in the field yes. I was just defending, I’m not going to let him score a goal,” he said.
While indeed the player is right, his response can only be seen as arrogant as he refused to admit that he was responsible for the player’s injury.
Needless to say, however, he did talk personally to Yamal and possibly even extended his support behind the scenes.
The Golden Boy’s injury was only one of the horrors Barcelona had to face last night as they even went on to drop three points and give up more ground in the title race.
A lot will depend on the upcoming game against Atletico Madrid and it will not be easy without Yamal.
