Alan Shearer now says Newcastle United were 'horrible' as they battered Leicester City 4-0 on…

· December 16 2024, 17:36

**Gary Lineker was thanking his lucky stars that Alan Shearer was not on Match of the Day duty on Saturday night after Newcastle United destroyed Leicester at St James' Park.**

Unfortunately for the crisp botherer, he does still do a regular podcast with the Newcastle hero, and while they left it until right at the end of the latest episode of The Rest Is Football, Lineker ultimately had to take what was coming to him from [Alan Shearer](https://nufcfeed.com/thats-better-alan-shearer-sums-up-the-feelings-of-entire-newcastle-united-fanbase-with-six-word-social-media-post-1002615).

Immediately, Shearer asked [Gary](https://nufcfeed.com/am-i-wearing-black-and-white-tinted-glasses-or-would-a-bruno-guimaraes-red-card-have-been-very-harsh-1002172) if this is where he says how poor Leicester were rather than how good Newcastle were, and while Lineker did admit to Leicester being terrible on the day, he did concede that it coincided with Newcastle being really good.

However, he did get his excuses in by saying how Leicester's midfield was missing with Boubakary Soumare and Wilfred Ndidi missing.

Alan Shearer says Newcastle had their energy levels back on Saturday

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Shearer responded by saying that Newcastle actually did Leicester a favour by keeping it down to 4-0 after wasting a hatful of chances before Micah Richards asked what had changed for Newcastle.

> "The energy levels.

>

> "Gordon was on that left-hand side, it was just, they were back to being a horrible team to play against the way they pressed. And they played really, really well, it was a really good all-round performance. They need to keep it up, they've got two important games."

Newcastle need to start being more consistent now that they have seemingly found a rhythm

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alan Shearer has been very critical of Newcastle lately, accusing the side of only turning up for the big games, and whether that's something the players were aware of or not, it seems that they have raised their game significantly.

We still feel that a win on Wednesday and again on Saturday against Brentford and Ipswich respectively are needed to really convince fans that the tide is turning.

A couple of back-to-back wins in the League will really transform the outlook for Newcastle given how tight the table is this season, and obviously a trip to Wembley via the Carabao Cup would certainly go a long way to bringing back the good feeling around the club.
