Elye Wahi (21) has struggled to establish himself at Olympique de Marseille since making the move in the summer. He signed from RC Lens for €25m back in the summer but has since been displaced in the starting line-up by Neal Maupay, who was brought in from Everton to be the back-up option. Wahi’s demotion looks to have been confirmed by Roberto De Zerbi, who confirmed Maupay’s _“great importance”_ to Olympique de Marseille.
There are conflicting reports regarding Wahi’s future. Whilst **L’Équipe** understands that Marseille are looking to retain the France youth international this January, **[La Provence](https://www.laprovence.com/article/om/1843686696233914/om-elye-wahi-plus-dur-est-le-chemin)** understands that the club will be open to offers.
The latter publication has now cited a potential interested party – former club Montpellier HSC. **La Provence** report that _La Paillade_ are looking to bring Wahi, who left the club in the summer of 2023, to the Mosson on a loan deal as they look to stave off relegation to Ligue 2.
