Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has been linked with a return to the Premier League by joining Wolverhampton Wanderers.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking at Graham Potter as a potential replacement for Gary O’Neil, who has bowed out of Molineux after a horrendous first half of the 2024/25 season.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have endured a disappointing start to the season, and O’Neil has not been able to get the best out of his players. The Black Country outfit needed a change to save their stuttering campaign. Bringing in a quality manager should be one of their priorities now, and Graham Porter could prove to be a quality appointment.
Even though the Englishman had a disappointing spell with Chelsea, he has shown his quality in the Premier League before with Brighton & Hove Albion. Potter will be desperate to get his career back on track, and moving to Wolves could be an interesting opportunity. It will be interesting to see if the 49-year-old is ready to take on a struggling team.
Wolves eyeing Vitor Pereira as well
Meanwhile, a report from Football Insider has claimed that Al Shabab manager Vitor Pereira is on the radar as well. The report has stated that Wolves are confident of getting a deal for the 56-year-old manager across the line. Apparently, he is keen on moving to the Premier League, and there is a willingness from all parties to get the deal done.
The 56-year-old manager has extensive experience of managing in multiple European countries, and he could prove to be an interesting acquisition as well. It will be interesting to see who they end up with. Wolves are currently 19th in the Premier League table with just nine points from 16 matches.
The Black Country will need to bounce back quickly if they want to save their season. They might need to bring in quality additions during the January transfer window as well. The challenge of managing in the Premier League could be quite tempting for Pereira and Graham Potter.
If they can save Wolves from going down this season, they might find themselves on the radar of big clubs in the near future. It could be the ideal stepping stone for both managers. However, with Vitor Pereira the likely candidate to replace O’Neil, another opening might be on Potter’s radar, with the former Chelsea boss recently linked with West Ham United.
