Wolverhampton Wanderers are showing keen interest in signing Atalanta centre-back Ben Godfrey in the January window.
Wolves are 19th in the Premier League table with just two wins so far and have lost manager Gary O’Neil.
The club decided to part ways with O’Neil after a poor run of form, and they are close to appointing Vitor Pereira as their next head coach.
While the primary focus for Pereira will be to get some wins under the belt, he will want to sign one or two players as well in the January window.
The defence is one of the areas where the club need to invest next month, and they have earmarked Godfrey as a potential option.
Ben Godfrey would be a perfect signing for Wolves
According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Serie A side are open to loan offers for Godfrey who left Everton to join Atalanta for a fee of £11 million.
He has found game time hard to come by under Gian Piero Gasperini and has made only four appearances this season.
The Italian club are looking to ship him out, and Wolves should not miss out on the opportunity to sign him.

Pereira will quickly understand that the only problem for Wolves lies in their defence, and that needs fixing.
They have conceded 40 goals already in 16 games, the most by any Premier League side, and the club need a strong defender at the back.
Godfrey has loads of Premier League experience, and he will grab the opportunity to play for a Premier League club again.
The fact that he would be available on loan makes it easier for Wolves, but they are likely to face competition from Nottingham Forest.
While Forest are aiming for European places, Godfrey’s chances of playing regularly lies with Wolves, should they move for him.
