Ex-Chelsea defender Thiago Silva showed his emotions on social media after he sat in the stands to watch the Blues' victory over Brentford on Sunday evening.
The Brazil footballing icon left Stamford Bridge at the end of last season. He originally joined the club on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
After 151 appearances and adding a Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup to his cabinet, he moved back to Brazil. Silva won all those medals in four years at Chelsea.
He returned to Fluminense this summer, the club where it all began for the iconic defender. Silva clearly built a strong connection with the London club as the Brazilian was spotted in the stands as Enzo Maresca's men beat Brentford 2-1 to bolster their title aspirations.
Silva posted three images - and one video - featuring him with his son at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to X (was Twitter). He captioned it: "Beautiful memories," along with a blue love heart emoji.
The former Chelsea player's eldest son, Isago, still plays for the club's academy. He had helped Chelsea Under-15s win the Premier League Floodlit Super Cup. There were reports from The Daily Mirror that Silva wouldn't leave as his son's contract didn't expire until 2025.
Speaking on the situation, the Brazilian told Ge Globo last year: "Everyone knows how much I'd like to return to Fluminense, but today it's hard to talk to my family [about it] because my children don't want to live in Brazil. It's very complicated, but we still have a year to reflect and understand what we're going to do next year."
Silva made 20 appearances for Fluminense this season - and their campaign ended this month. However, his side missed out on qualification for both Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, the two major club competitions in South America.
