West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta shared a cryptic update on X ahead of Bournemouth clash on Monday.

Minutes before Julen Lopetegui announced the playing eleven for the game, the Brazilian shared three lines in Portuguese, one of which stated “I will return home”.

The 28-year-old is however named in the starting lineup to take on the Cherries on 16 December at the Vitality Stadium.

Paqueta wrote on X: “I’m not from here. I will return home. He comes to get me and with him I will go!”

West Ham Zone reached out to the club for a statement and the club spokesperson declined to comment.

West Ham fans will not like this post from Lucas Paqueta

Posting this right before a crucial game can be seen as unprofessional and potentially demoralising for his teammates and fans.

At a time when unity and focus are paramount, suggesting a wish to leave sends mixed signals about his commitment to the club.

Even if they are lyrics to a song he likes, he could’ve picked another time or could’ve shared the video rather than only use these three lines.

This could undermine team morale, especially if he’s linked with an exit.

His message could be interpreted as a sign of discontent or distraction, which is particularly untimely when the team needs solidarity.

Furthermore, such public declarations during pivotal moments in the season might fuel speculation about his future, possibly leading to transfer rumours which could disrupt the team’s focus.

In other West Ham news, the club want to secure the services of a 2022 World Cup runner up in the January transfer window and a move is on the cards.
