What the coach has to say
Alberto Toril said down with the press to discuss the upcoming UWCL match against Chelsea. The Blues are among the best in the WSL: “We know that we have already done our homework, but we are excited to face a match of this caliber, against a very powerful rival who aspires to be European champions. I think we have the chance to do well and get a positive result. We have a very good run of form, with great results and four months with good feelings. We are well positioned in all competitions, and we are going to try to play a good match.”
The head coach hopes to finish first in the group, just like Bompastor with Chelsea: “This type of match requires high concentration. It is the elite, and we have to focus on being very attentive, doing good defensive work as a whole and, from there, we have enough quality to do damage and create danger. It is going to be a difficult, complicated match against a very powerful rival, but so are we. We have a very good line-up; with important player growth every day and we are going to go for the three points and try to finish first.”

Team News Chelsea
There is a new injury in the Chelsea squad. They have quite some players out with an ACL and Lauren James is still struggling with her calf. The head coach said: “It will be important to have the right starting XI to make sure we start the game really strong. Jojo (Rytting Kaneryd) didn’t travel with us. She suffered a calf injury in the last game, but we have Sandy Baltimore back with us in the squad.” Sandy Baltimore is back with the squad after being absent for three matches.
What the coach has to say
Chelsea lost their first points in the Women’s Super League this weekend, against Leicester City. Bompastor urged her team not to dwell in the past. She and her squad analyzed the Leicester draw, took from it what was needed and are now looking forward to the UWCL match against Real Madrid: “We have kept our confidence,’ Bompastor continued. ‘The WSL is so competitive. I think it’s the most competitive league in Europe, so we’re going to have tough games. We never take anything for granted.”
The French head coach is confident that Chelsea will secure another win and end the year on a high: “Real Madrid are a team who have a lot of experience in the Champions League. They have a good squad, a talented squad. We expect a tough game, but we also focus on ourselves because we have a lot of experience as well.
“Coming into this game, we are top of the table, so we are confident but we know the game tomorrow will be tough again. We will need to be 100 per cent with our performance to make sure we can get the three points.”
