The incidents, which occurred as Vinicius exited the pitch, have been referred to the Disciplinary Committee for further review.
Tensions flared as the match concluded, with some Rayo Vallecano fans directing racist chants toward Vinicius Jr. In response, the Brazilian forward made a gesture towards the stands, implying Rayo’s relegation to the Second Division.
Raúl Martín Presa, president of Rayo Vallecano, weighed in with highly controversial quotes regarding the incidents. He expressed disapproval of Vinicius Jr.’s behavior, stating:
“Attitudes like Vinicius’ are not appropriate because, in the end, they tell fans like Rayo’s, ‘Go to the Second Division,’ when for us, being in the First Division is survival at all levels.”
Martín Presa also voiced concerns over the potential consequences for Rayo Vallecano as a club, particularly the possibility of sanctions due to the actions of a few individuals in the crowd. He emphasized that the vast majority of fans behaved respectfully, but argued that isolated actions should not lead to collective punishment:
“You have to see it, because the people behaved in a very polite manner. But if someone, when provoked, says something inappropriate or throws an object, then they propose a sanction against Rayo. And how can Rayo be to blame for this?”
The president further criticized Vinicius Jr.’s reaction, suggesting that footballers should maintain professionalism, even under difficult circumstances:
“Footballers should be professionals, and these attitudes toward the public should not be taken, in my humble opinion, because it can lead to other things.”
