Manchester United are interested in signing one of France’s best strikers during the winter transfer window, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
The Red Devils have had mixed fortunes during the first half of the Premier League season, but their performances are improving under new manager Ruben Amorim.
United recently registered a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Manchester City on the road. The club are now six points behind the final guaranteed Champions League spot.
Amorim may explore the possibility of signings this winter and L’Equipe claim that the Red Devils are interested in securing the services of Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani.
Kolo Muani has fallen out-of-favour under manager Luis Enrique this term. He was completely left out of the matchday squad for the 3-1 win over Lyon In Ligue 1 on Sunday.
The door is reportedly open for his departure at the turn of the year.
United should swoop Kolo Muani on loan
The Red Devils have made decent progress under Amorim’s tutelage. They were not at their best against City, but managed to make a huge statement with a surprise late win.
The onus should be on capitalising on the momentum. The club need to go on a winning streak in the coming weeks to put themselves back into Champions League contention.
Rasmus Hojlund has been fabulous as the main striker with five goals since Amorim took charge, but the Portuguese could be tempted to sign someone more experienced to compete.
Joshua Zirkzee did score twice in the 4-0 win over Everton, but the Dutchman has struggled to adapt to the higher intensity and physicality of the league since his move from Serie A.
Kolo Muani has not had much action for PSG this term with two goals and an assist in 403 minutes, but he has been superb for his country with four goal contributions in five caps.
It is quite obvious that Enrique has a different view on the striker. We believe he would be a perfect fit for United with his high pressing, tireless work rate and ability to create chances apart from scoring.
The 26-year-old, who was signed for an initial £64 million by PSG, has also excelled with his take-ons and was described as a ‘great dribbler‘ by former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner.
He is likewise good with his aerial presence and can operate from the wings. It appears a no-brainer decision to land the ‘explosive‘ star on loan in the upcoming transfer window.
United should also negotiate an option to buy in case he makes a good impression. The club already have a good relationship with PSG after the summer acquisition of Manuel Ugarte.
