Italian giants Lazio are interested in acquiring the services of Chelsea midfield sensation Cesare Casadei.
According to a report from SportItalia.it, Lazio are looking to reinforce their midfield in the upcoming transfer window and Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei is one of the names that is quite high on their wishlist.
Casadei was a part of the Inter Milan youth setup back in the day. He went up the ranks at some pace and even got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2022. But, shortly after, he secured a move to Premier League giants Chelsea.
Unfortunately, the move to the Blues hasn’t really worked out for the 21-year-old midfielder. He has struggled to establish himself in their first team and has only had limited game time so far.
The Italian youth international hasn’t been used in a single Premier League fixture this season. He has made a total of five appearances and has racked up just over 330 minutes. The lack of game time is doing no good to his career and Casadei is considering his future at the club.
While his contract at Chelsea runs until the summer of 2028, the Blues are reportedly ready to sanction his departure. With the London club ready to offload him, Lazio have emerged as a potential destination. They want to take Casadei back to the Italian top flight.
Lazio retain interest in Casadei
They wanted to sign him in the summer of 2023 at the request of Maurizio Sarri. Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan and they failed to secure his services as the 21-year-old decided to respect the commitment made to Leicester City regarding a loan move.
Despite suffering a setback, Lazio have retained interest in the young midfielder. They want to add more quality to the centre of the park and they feel the former Inter Milan star can help them in the short as well as the long run.
They are plotting a raid on Chelsea for his signature. Lazio have been monitoring him over the past 12 months and they are now serious considering the idea of knocking on the London club’s door for his signature. But, they are not alone as other top clubs are also interested in signing him in January. Monza are exploring a loan move and they are willing to offer the minutes he seeks.
