Jamie Carragher believes the presence of Richard Hughes at Liverpool could be a factor in any possible swoop for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
Kerkez has emerged as one of the best young left-backs in the Premier League since joining the Cherries last year, with his performances this season in particular standing out.
The 21-year-old has started in all of Bournemouth's league games so far this term, recently scoring his first goal for the club, and he has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent times.
Liverpool is reported to be interested in signing a new left-back in 2025, with Andy Robertson now in his 30s and Kostas Tsimikas due to turn 30 next season.
The Reds made Richard Hughes their sporting director earlier this year, and Kerkez will definitely be a player on his radar considering he was the technical director at Bournemouth when the Cherries signed Kerkez in 2023.
Carragher noted that connection as he appeared to endorse a possible Liverpool move for Kerkez on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football: "Andy Robertson needs help, and he (Kerkez) has been a revelation at Bournemouth. The only reason why I mention Liverpool is the fact that, yes, they're probably looking for someone in that position, but the fact that the sporting director who brought him to Bournemouth, Richard Hughes, is now the sporting director at Liverpool
"He's aggressive, he's got pace. Even when you look at him, he looks like a full-back. Little, really aggressive, after wingers on that side. He's just bombing up and down that left side. He's been superb since he's come into the Premier League with Bournemouth, and he's probably one to watch for the future, whether he stays at the club or moves on, because he's made that much of an impact."
