‘Unbelievable’ – Barcelona star claims teammate is ‘one of the top-5 in the world’

Barcelona star Pau Cubarsí has on Monday come in for some well-earned praise, on the part of teammate and close friend Lamine Yamal.

Stopper Cubarsí, for his part, has of course spent the early weeks of the new season continuing to make a name for himself as one of the standout up-and-coming talents in world football.

One of the first names on the team sheet of new Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, the 17-year-old has shone on both sides of the ball, en route to 22 starts across all competitions.

And, safe to say, such efforts have not gone at all unappreciated on the part of fellow Blaugrana prodigy Lamine Yamal.

Fresh off being crowned Tuttosport’s ‘Golden Boy’, recognising his status as the game’s very best young player, Lamine on Monday moved to lavish praise on Cubarsí.

After first labelling his friend and teammate one of the five best central defenders in world football, the explosive winger went on to tip Cubarsí to scoop the next Golden Boy award:

“Pau Cubarsí is already one of the top-5 best centre backs in the world. Mark my words, Cubarsí can be the next one to win the Golden Boy, in 2025. His level every day is just unbelievable.”
