Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz has shed light on the team’s current mindset and the areas they need to improve following their recent draw against Everton. Speaking to The Mirror, Havertz stressed the importance of focusing on their own performances while addressing key issues in front of goal.
Reflecting on the 0-0 result, Havertz admitted the team’s frustration at failing to secure all three points despite dominating possession and controlling much of the game. “We try to look at ourselves. Win games, get points. I think that’s the most frustrating point against Everton, that we didn’t do that,” Havertz said.
Arsenal have struggled to find consistency in converting their dominance into goals in recent matches, an issue that has seen them drop crucial points in their pursuit of silverware this season. While Havertz highlighted their ability to control games, he also pointed out that lapses in key areas have hindered their ability to finish off opponents.

“Just the little details in the box, we didn’t manage to do them,” he explained. “We didn’t find the final pass. Sometimes I think the positioning in the box wasn’t perfect, so we have to look at that and make it better in the next game.”
The German midfielder’s words highlight a recurring theme in Arsenal’s recent performances: a lack of clinical finishing and precision in the final third. Despite dominating possession and creating promising build-up play, Mikel Arteta’s side has often fallen short when it comes to converting chances into goals.
Against Everton, Arsenal managed to create several half-chances but failed to truly test the opposition goalkeeper. The Toffees, on the other hand, defended resolutely and frustrated Arsenal by sitting deep and limiting space in and around the box. Havertz believes that fine-tuning their decision-making and positioning will make all the difference in such tightly contested matches.
Arsenal fans will be encouraged to hear Havertz’s call for unity within the team as they look to bounce back in upcoming fixtures. “We try to be positive, stick together as a group, and make it better next time,” he added.
The message from Havertz is clear: Arsenal’s success will depend on their ability to focus on their own performances, correct the small mistakes, and maintain a positive approach as a group. With a demanding schedule ahead, Mikel Arteta and his squad will need to find solutions quickly to stay in the hunt for domestic and European success this season.
Havertz’s comments come at a time when the spotlight is firmly on Arsenal’s attacking players. While the team boasts plenty of quality in the final third, including the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Martin Ødegaard, there is an increasing need for sharper execution in the decisive moments.
As Arsenal prepare for their next game, the focus will undoubtedly be on addressing the “little details” that Havertz mentioned. Whether it’s finding the final pass, improving positioning, or simply being more ruthless in front of goal, Arsenal know they cannot afford to let further opportunities slip away.
Havertz’s call for accountability and improvement reflects the team’s determination to get back to winning ways. With the right mindset and adjustments, Arsenal will look to turn frustration into momentum in the matches to come.
