Jamie Carragher tore Konstantinos Mavropanos to shreds as West Ham settled for a point against Bournemouth on Monday.
Lucas Paqueta thought he had gifted his side all three points from the penalty spot, only to be cancelled out by an audacious free-kick effort from Enes Unal at the Vitality Stadium on 16 December.
While the Cherries substitute fired in his strike from the best part of 30 yards, Mavropanos was highlighted as the criminal in the steps leading up to the match-defining moment.
Speaking live via Sky Sports [16 December, 10:10pm], Jamie Carragher said: “It’s just a daft foul. What are you trying to do? He’s got his back to play, going nowhere – absolutely ridiculous to give a foul away there.”

To be fair to the Greek international, fans and media members would not be slating his foul if Unal had blasted his effort into the Vitality Stadium stands.

He likely would have been praised for giving away the free-kick so far away from goal had nothing come from the moment, but the Cherries striker was destined to step up and fire into the top corner.
While a point is not the worst result for Julen Lopetegui and his team, it will feel like a huge blow after taking the lead through a contentious penalty so late on in the clash.

However, a draw is probably a fair result after such a back-and-forth display away from the London Stadium, leaving the Hammers seven points above the relegation zone after 16 matches.
Relegation to the Championship should not be a real fear for the East London side, but if more wins do not come their way soon, Lopetegui will remain under pressure at the helm.
