Barcelona have been hit with a fresh Lamine Yamal injury blow after confirming the teenager will miss the next “3 to 4 weeks” with an ankle problem.
The news means that Yamal will miss Barcelona’s next game against Atletico Madrid and won’t play again for the Catalans in 2024.
Barcelona will also have to make do without Yamal for the Copa del Rey clash with Barbastro, although Hansi Flick may well rotate his team for that match anyway.
Reporter Javi Miguel has claimed that Barca are hoping to have Yamal back fully fit in time for the Spanish Super Cup in January.
He posted on X: “Yamal: the club is already working to get him back to 100% for the Super Cup. He will travel safely and the goal is for him to play a few minutes against Athletic.”
Barcelona are due to play Athletic Club in the semi-finals in Saudi Arabia on January 8, with the winners due to face either Real Madrid or Real Mallorca in the final.
Let’s just hope that Yamal does recover quickly but also that he’s not rushed back into action before he’s completely ready.
