Derby County have been tipped to win the race for Aston Villa talent Louie Barry should the Premier League club recall him from Stockport County next month.
The Rams are eager to bolster their attack and have been linked with Barry who has had a breathtaking start to the season with the Hatters, scoring 15 goals in all competitions.
Leeds and Middlesbrough have already been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old who can play out wide or down the middle. But while those two clubs are challenging for promotion, the prospect of regular first-team football would be unlikely.
And that's why a switch to Paul Warne's Derby would be a good move for Barry when the window opens next month with TalkSport and Sky Sports panelist Dan Bardell believing it makes perfect sense.
“I think it is quite clear that Villa will recall him and send him on loan to the Championship," he told Villa News.
“I think it makes perfect sense to do that. He’s basically completed League One. He’s proven himself at that level and he’ll have to do it again in the Championship. It is clear that Barry can make that step up.
“It makes sense for him to move to a lower-end Championship club where he’s guaranteed to play, Derby or someone like that. I think that would be a good move – they will give him a chance and that’s what he needs.“
