Everton could receive an unexpected financial windfall in the coming weeks should Ben Godfrey leave Atalanta permanently.
TBR reported on 16 December that a number of clubs in the Premier League, including Nottingham Forest, Wolves and Brentford, are looking to sign the 26-year-old who left the Toffees for Atalanta in the summer.
It’s understood that if the Italian side get a solid offer for the English centre-back, they will consider selling him in January.
Liverpool Echo’s Joe Thomas claims that the Toffees did include a sell-on clause when they let Godfrey leave the club.
Everton will welcome the windfall from Ben Godfrey’s second transfer in less than a year
This means that in the next six weeks if the Englishman leaves Atalanta permanently, there could be money arriving into the coffers at Goodison Park.

The unexpected financial windfall from a potential sale of Godfrey could be immensely beneficial for the new owners as they prepare for the January transfer window.
With a sell-on clause in place, any significant transfer fee received for the centre-back would bolster the club’s budget at a critical time.
This influx of funds could assist the new owners in financing new signings or possibly reducing financial pressures, allowing the club to focus on squad development without immediate financial constraints.

The hope is that a club offers a substantial sum for Godfrey, which would not only provide financial relief but also demonstrate the foresight of the club’s earlier transfer dealings.
