Liverpool are flying under Arne Slot and lead the way in the Premier League with almost half the season played.
The Reds’ lead at the top of the table has been reduced to just two points in recent weeks as Chelsea continue their fine run under Enzo Maresca, but they have a game in hand and can extend the gap to five with a win.
Slot’s meticulous approach and calm persona have earned him plaudits as he continues to build on Jurgen Klopp’s legacy at the top.
However, to ensure they keep pushing for the Premier League crown in the second half of the season, there have been suggestions that they need reinforcements in January.
And Jamie Carragher believes his former team should sign an exciting Premier League defender to shore up their backline.

Over the past month, Andy Robertson hasn’t covered himself in too much glory for Liverpool.
After conceding penalties against Real Madrid and Newcastle United, the experienced Scot was sent off in the 2-2 draw against Fulham for a foul on the edge of the penalty area on Harry Wilson.

With Kostas Tsimikas struggling with injuries, Liverpool could be in the market for a left-back in the upcoming transfer windows.
Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez has been linked with a move to Anfield, with the Hungarian international emerging as a key player for the Cherries under Andoni Iraola.
And Carragher feels the Premier League defender would be a brilliant addition to Liverpool in January, with the player well known to Richard Hughes due to the time they spent together at Bournemouth.
“(Against Fulham) He [Robertson] doesn’t look like he’s running back fully, he’s had a whack (earlier in the half) then gingerly goes to control the ball before getting a red card.”
“He needs help. Liverpool haven’t got any back-up and it’s something they need to address in January.
‘(Milos) Kerkez has been a revelation at Bournemouth. The technical director who brought him to Bournemouth (Richard Hughes) is now the sporting director at Liverpool.
“Kerkez looks like a full back and he’s aggressive. He’s been superb since he came into the Premier League and is one to watch in the future whether he stays or moves on.”
What has Kerkez hinted about his future?
The 21-year-old has started every Premier League game for Bournemouth this season and has been one of their best players as they find themselves occupying sixth place in the league standings.
The Cherries are set for their best season in the top-flight and Kerkez could emerge as a wanted man in the upcoming transfer windows.
When asked about his dreams for the future, Kerkez suggested that he’s ready to play for a top club in the future, although he is focused on helping Bournemouth reach their goals this season.
“We are pushing but we’re not even halfway through the season and in the Premier League everything can change in two games,” Kerkez said in an interview with the Guardian.
“I believe I can make it at the top level of football, then I can build an even bigger lake.”
