Report: Enzo Maresca worried about Chelsea player with 'huge potential', he could leave next month

There’s definitely a feel-good factor around Chelsea right now because of all the success on the pitch, so how will things look in next month’s January transfer window?

Chelsea, who currently sit second in the Premier League table, shouldn’t need to alter too much.

A few individuals in the Blues squad are linked with potential transfer exits next month, though. For example, Chelsea will listen to offers for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Interestingly, his Chelsea teammate is also linked with a move away.

Enzo Maresca worried about Carney Chukwuemeka’s development

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are open to allowing Carney Chukwuemeka to leave the club in January.

It is understood that they are willing to send the attacking midfielder out on loan. There’s a feeling that the £25m-rated Englishman may be sold if a suitable offer arrives, though.

The report adds that Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is concerned by Chukwuemeka’s lack of minutes having a negative effect on his development.

Apparently, the 21-year-old’s receiving interest from the likes of West Ham, Crystal Palace, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Carney Chukwuemeka needs a move

Ideally, Chukwuemeka will get a loan move in the second half of the season to go and prove himself elsewhere.

Graham Potter hailed Chelsea’s Chukwuemeka as someone with “huge potential”, but his time at Stamford Bridge has been plagued by injury.

So far this season, the youngster’s biggest problem has been the competition for places. It’s frustrating that he’s only made five first-team appearances across all competitions this campaign.

Chukwuemeka struggled to impress against Astana in last week’s Conference League tie. Will he be given the chance to put himself in the shop window when Chelsea host Shamrock Rovers on Thursday night in another Conference League match?
