Chelsea loanee makes decision on his future with January window fast approaching

Raheem Sterling has no plans to cut short his loan spell at Arsenal despite a lack of minutes under Mikel Arteta according to reports.

Sterling joined the Gunners on loan on deadline day after being frozen out by Chelsea, but things haven’t gone to plan at the Emirates.

The winger has yet to play for Arsenal this month and he last started a game back in October, but Arteta recently stated he wanted to give Sterling more minutes.

Sterling not planning to cut short Arsenal loan

It appeared Sterling was set for a role under Enzo Maresca after featuring prominently in pre-season, but he was absent from the match day squad for the opening day of the season against Manchester City.

The decision was then quickly taken to freeze him out of the first team and the England international was forced to train with the youth team.

It appeared Sterling would be stuck at Chelsea until January with seemingly no suitors, in part due to his contract which is reportedly worth in excess of £300,000 per week.

The decision to freeze Sterling out was met with a lot of criticism, but former Blue Chris Sutton felt it was the right thing to do.

The 30-year-old reunited with Arteta at Arsenal and the move has given him the chance to show if he can still cut it at the top level.

Unfortunately Sterling has only made ten appearances so far and has started just two Premier League games, but The Evening Standard have reported he’s not planning to cut his loan short at The Emirates.

Sterling could get an opportunity in the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening and his only Arsenal goal came earlier in the competition.

Chelsea will be hoping that Sterling can feature on a slightly more regular basis as they will want to get him in the shop window and try and boost his transfer value ahead of an inevitable exit next summer.
