Jamie Carragher has warned Enzo Maresca that there are three areas he must fix at Chelsea before they can win the Premier League title.
The Blues moved to within just two points of league leaders Liverpool with a tenth win of the season over Brentford. Chelsea have put together an incredible run of form which has them firmly in the race for the title.
However, Carragher remains unconvinced by the West London club’s chances of lasting the distance and he has highlighted the three key areas where they could fall just short.

Jamie Carragher claims Chelsea aren’t a title-winning team yet
Jamie Carragher believes that Chelsea are not yet a title-winning team and there are three areas of the team they must upgrade. The former Liverpool man claims that the goalkeeper and the two centre-backs are going to cause the West London club issues in the long run.
Enzo Maresca’s current number one, Robert Sanchez, has made several errors this season and there are big question marks as to whether he is reliable enough to see Chelsea win the league. Meanwhile, the Italian manager has struggled to pick a partner for Levi Colwill having rotated between Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo and Axel Disasi.
Chelsea have conceded 19 times this term which is six more than Liverpool and five more than Arsenal. Maresca won’t be overly concerned by his defence for now, but it could be an area they need to address in January.
Carragher said on Sky Sports: “I still look at them and I don’t see a title-winning team because of when I look at the goalkeeper and the two centre-backs. I know Liverpool didn’t win the league but if you remember the season under Brendan Rodgers when they came really close and came out of nowhere, nobody expected it, they didn’t have European football.
“I know Chelsea do but they could put their second team out and still win that competition [Conference League]. So in some ways, they haven’t got European football and that is something that does put them in the race.”
What next for Chelsea in the Premier League title race?
Chelsea’s next task is an away trip to Everton on Sunday. The Toffees just caused their title rivals Arsenal real frustration as they held the Gunners to a goalless draw at the Emirates.
Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta’s team travel across London to take on Crystal Palace, with the two teams also due to meet on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup. Premier League leaders, Liverpool, are also away in London and play Tottenham.
