ESPN pundit believes Enzo Maresca is ‘talking nonsense’ about Chelsea right now

There is a serious case to be made that Enzo Maresca has been the most impressive manager in the Premier League so far this season.

There were certainly eyebrows raised when the Italian with no top flight experience was handed the reins at Stamford Bridge, however the result has been incredible so far.

Joe Cole believes Maresca has been the manager of the season so far, and many believe he has put the Blues firmly in a title race.

Chelsea sit two points behind Liverpool in the Premier League right now, and could temporarily go top with a win over Everton at the weekend.

Steve Nicol says Enzo Maresca is ‘talking nonsense’ saying Chelsea can’t win the league

Maresca has insisted that Chelsea cannot win the league this season, however that hasn’t put an end to outside talk that they can challenge for the title.

ESPN pundit Steve Nicol understands why the boss is playing down their expectations, he thinks he is talking absolute nonsense by saying they can’t fight for the league.

He said: “Any decent coach with half a brain is going to turn around and say what Maresca said. But the fact is he’s talking nonsense. How can you say you’re not ready to compete when they’re only two points off the top of the table?

“But that’s not really what matters. What happens goes on between the brains of the players. The players are the ones who can mess it up.

Chelsea players big fans of Maresca

Despite only working together for a few months now, it has been clear that the Chelsea players are already big fans of Maresca.

Levi Colwill has been full of praise for how the manager has handled the players, with the task of managing a large, high-quality squad not lost on anyone.

It is clear that the Italian has had a huge impact on the academy stars already.

After it looked as if Josh Acheampong could be on the move after being frozen out of the club, however it has been claimed that Acheampong has been won over by Maresca.
