Jakub Kiwior asks for transfer away from Arsenal

According to a report in Italy, Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior could be set for a transfer away from the North London club just two years after initially joining the Gunners, largely due to a lack of playing time.

Kiwior joined Arsenal on 23 January 2023 in a £20m (€24m) deal from Serie A side Spezia but, despite carrying a weight of promise about his ability and potential, the Pole was never able to assert himself as a regular feature in Mikel Arteta’s first-choice starting line-up.

And now, after making just 29 starts in all competitions for Arsenal, it looks as though Kiwior could be set to leave the club – as he reportedly seeks a move back to Italy.

Italian outlet ‘Tuttomercatoweb’ have reported that the 24-year-old has asked his agents, FairSport – who also represent Napoli and Slovakia star Stanislav Lobotka – to pursue a move away from Arsenal, as he looks to get his once-promising career back on track.

In fact, the report even claims that FairSport have arranged a meeting with Napoli in the near future, where it is thought that a potential transfer for Kiwior could be hot on the agenda.

Kiwior has received plaudits throughout his time at Arsenal and, despite not being a regular starter for much of his time in England, many fans have taken a real liking to him, with one such supporter previously saying: “Well done Jakub Kiwior. I like it when players who aren’t first choice stay humble and do their talking on the pitch.”

Although a move never materialised, Kiwior was reportedly the subject of transfer interest from a whole host of Serie A clubs during the recent summer transfer window, including the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and also Napoli, among others – with that interest now seemingly set to be reignited in the near future.
