Everton could cash in on Branthwaite for £31m defender who's beating him in three key areas -…

January is almost upon us, and Everton are expected to be busy.

The Friedkin Group are expected to complete their takeover of Everton on Wednesday, in what is a highly anticipated development.

The Americans recently got Premier League approval, and it is now just a question of time.

And fans cannot wait for a new dawn, with the team having struggled for a long time now.

The Friedkin Group are planning to invest in the January transfer window, and a number of players have already been linked with the club.

The feeling is that Everton will go after a new striker, with Igor Jesus reportedly of interest.

But Everton may also look to bolster their backline, with Victor Lindelof having just been linked with a move to Merseyside – and there are a few statistics that suggest he could be a good addition.

It was claimed yesterday that Everton are showing interest in Lindelof ahead of the January transfer window.

Lindelof has been with Manchester United since the summer of 2017, after signing from Benfica.

In recent times he’s struggled to start games regularly, and under Ruben Amorim he has played just one minute.

Everton are keen, and there are some fairly surprising statistics about Lindelof.

Lindelof 2024/25 Branthwaite 2024/25

Appearances – 6 Appearances – 8

Pass completion rate – 92.1% Pass completion rate – 86.5%

Percentage of dribblers tackled – 100% Percentage of dribblers tackled – 71.4%

Percentage of aerial duels won – 40% Percentage of aerial duels won – 36.8%

As per fbref, he currently has a 92.1% pass completion rate, which is higher than Jarrad Branthwaite (86.5%).

Lindelof is also more successful than Branthwaite when it comes to tackling, with a percentage of dribblers tackled metric of 100%, compared to Branthwaite’s 71.4%.

Lindelof has also fared fairly well in the air, winning 40% of his aerial duels. For context, Branthwaite has won 36.8%.

Lindelof could be a good signing for Everton

The priority for the Friedkin Group in January needs to be signing players who are dynamic and can score goals.

But there is a possibility Everton could be needing new defenders too.

Speculation continues to swirl around Branthwaite and it’s not out of the question someone could offer big money for him in January.

Chelsea are thought to be keen on Branthwaite and although the Friedkins will want to keep him, money talks.

Lindelof coming in come be a shrewd bit of business by the new owners.

The 30-year-old has been in England for a long time now and has good Premier League experience. The Sweden international will likely want to prove himself elsewhere, so this is surely another potential deal between Everton and Manchester United to watch out for.
