Feyenoord’s Quinten Timber is good enough to play for Arsenal and likely to play for a club at that level in future.
That’s according to Rafael van der Vaart, [via FR 12](https://www.fr12.nl/nieuws/van-der-vaart-hij-kan-bij-clubs-als-arsenal-en-ac-milan-eindigen), who believes the defender is more than good enough to join his brother Jurrien at the Emirates in future.
Timber has again been impressing in the Netherlands with Feyenoord this season, with four goals and two assists in 21 games so far while mainly playing in central midfield.
The 23-year-old is now the captain of the Dutch club and continues to pick up admirers across Europe, where several sides, including some in the Premier League, have already been credited with an interest in him.
Arsenal were thrown into the mix for him earlier this year by then manager Arne Slot, who insisted the midfielder was good enough to play for the Gunners after they had been linked with a move.
They already have his brother, Jurrien, on the books after signing him from Ajax in 2023 and so a move could make sense and reunite the twins in London.
Van der Vaart can certainly see it, backing the player with his comments today as he looked to clarify previous comments he’s made on him.
“I often explain it wrong,” he told Rondo.
“I believe that Timber can end up at clubs like Arsenal and AC Milan. But now, because he is captain, he is busy with other things, so he plays limited, I think.
“He is now the best player and that is why they made him captain. I don’t believe he is the absolute leader, but he is in his game.
”Only when he plays without a band do you take a lot of pressure off him. As long as he wears that band, he won’t end up at a big club. I think he prefers to do his thing in the shelter, let loose on the field and then be done.
“Make no mistake, during the week you are the captain, and you are busy with all kinds of things that you don’t feel like doing. I didn’t have that either. I was also a very bad captain. That’s why I think it’s better not to.”
